Mariah Carey to Sing ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ Ahead of NFL Christmas Games

Mariah Carey is set to perform her iconic holiday hit All I Want For Christmas Is You to kick off the NFL’s Christmas Day games. The platform revealed the news through a promotional clip titled NFL Christmas Gameday, where Carey shared that her wish was coming true with the NFL going live on OTT and her participation in the festivities.

Carey’s performance will be pre-recorded and will air before the games begin. It is scheduled to precede the 1 PM ET match between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers, as well as the 4:30 PM ET game featuring the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens.

The Christmas Day festivities will also include a halftime show headlined by Beyoncé, who will perform tracks from her album Cowboy Carter for the first time. All I Want For Christmas Is You, released on October 29, 1994, became an instant success, charting at Number Six on the Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary chart in the U.S. and achieving high placements in the UK and Japan. The track re-enters charts worldwide every holiday season, reaching Number One in over 30 countries and breaking records for the longest gap between release and hitting the top spot in both the U.S. (25 years) and the UK (26 years).

The single has been certified 16× Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), solidifying its position as the highest-certified single ever by a female artist.

In other news, a judge recently indicated plans to dismiss a copyright lawsuit filed against Carey over All I Want For Christmas Is You. Earlier this month, Carey addressed criticism surrounding a Spotify Wrapped video message sent to her top fans. Some believed the clip featured an AI-generated likeness of the singer, to which she responded on Twitter, attributing the confusion to poor lighting and makeup choices.
