Maroon 5 Stun with New Single ‘Nobody’s Love’

After a brief musical hiatus, Maroon 5 returned to the scene with news of their brand new single, ‘Nobody’s Love’. After leaving behind a string of teasers, the band finally put out the tune, accompanied with its very own music video.

Maroon 5 moves through familiar territory in ‘Nobody’s Love’. Over a steady set of beats and a gentle guitar riff, Adam Levine’s soft, breezy melodies land. Interestingly, the pre-chorus dabbles with new, almost melancholic runs, before Levine settles into his signature falsettos.

The tune is an uncomplicated, sweet love song. While the lyrics might follow along the same brushstroke as some of the band’s previous love songs, the lines are still charming. Here, take a look:

You can make a grown man cry
If you ever left my side
Never let you go, oh, oh, oh

You’re the only hand in my back pocket
If you ever left, I’d go pyschotic

Heaven hear me cryin’, cryin’…

An Intimate Glimpse of Adam Levine

Much like the track itself, the music video is just as unassuming and yet, still makes for a nice watch. Director, David Dobkin, captures Adam Levine in his backyard in Los Angeles. The star delivers his verses, staring right into the camera in a rather contemplative manner. Between drags and sips of wine, a bearded Levine is captured lamenting under cold, cloudy skies.

The music video ends with a weighty message from the ACLU about the criminalization of marijuana and its harmful impact.

“It’s time to end the war on marijuana. The aggressive enforcement of marijuana possession laws needlessly ensures hundreds of thousands of people into the criminal justice system and wastes billions of taxpayers’ dollars. What’s more, it is carried into with staggering racial bias. Despite being a priority for police departments nationwide, the war on Marijuana has failed to reduce marijuana use and availability and diverted resources that could be better invested in our communities.”

The band also included a link to the ACLU, encouraging fans to donate.

‘Nobody’s Love’ will find its space on the band’s upcoming album. And while there’s no news of a title nor release date yet, we can revel in the tid bits we’ve gotten so far.
