Megan Thee Stallion Has a New Song On The Way

Houston rapper, Megan Thee Stallion is making headlines once again as she gears up for the release of her new single, ‘Cobra.’ This upcoming track, set to drop on 3rd November marks her return after a lengthy legal battle and a declaration of her artistic freedom.

The journey to ‘Cobra’ has been anything but smooth for the 28-year-old rapper. The saga began in 2020 when Megan Thee Stallion found herself entangled in a legal dispute with her former record label, 1501 Certified Entertainment. The contract she had signed with the label at the tender age of 20 was, in her words, “not only entirely unconscionable but ridiculously so.” This initiated a three-year legal battle that finally came to a close in October 2023 when both parties announced a confidential settlement, allowing Megan to break free and embark on a new chapter in her career.

Megan Thee Stallion used her Instagram Live platform to update her fans and reveal her newfound independence, expressing her intentions to self-fund her upcoming projects. “This part of my album is definitely very much funded by Megan Thee Stallion because we’re trying to get off,” she declared. “But I have no label right now. We’re doing everything funded straight out of Megan Thee Stallion’s pockets. The budget is coming from me. M——–g Hot Girl Productions.”

Her recent album, ‘Traumazine,’ which debuted on 12th August 2022, marked the beginning of this new era. She also attended the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards stage with Cardi B, performing their hit collaboration, ‘Bongos.’ However, the collaboration with Cardi B was just the tip of the iceberg, as Megan Thee Stallion prepares to launch ‘Cobra’ as her first solo release since ‘Traumazine.’

In anticipation of the upcoming single, Megan teased her fans with a promotional campaign featuring steamy images of herself in a jungle setting, giving a glimpse into the theme of the upcoming single. The song is described as “a story by Megan Thee Stallion.”

What makes this release even more remarkable is that it will be the first single from Megan’s Hot Girl Productions, an entity she is building to promote her music and entertainment endeavours. She has effectively liberated herself from the constraints of the record label system and is ready to conquer the music industry on her terms.

Even though she may be open to the idea of signing with a new label in the future, for now, she revels in the freedom to create music that resonates with her true self. This creative autonomy feels like a return to her roots, evoking the spirit of when it was “just me and my mama.”
