Members of Blackpink Opt Out of Inking Solo Contracts With YG Entertainment

The four members of Blackpink, namely Jisoo, Lisa, Jennie, and Rose, have decided not to extend their collaboration with YG Entertainment for individual solo projects, as officially declared by the company. While the group as a whole will continue to be affiliated with YG Entertainment, the individual members are set to explore their solo careers beyond the agency.

In a prior official statement discussing the group’s contract extension, the company announced that Blackpink is gearing up for the release of a new album and a global tour.“We will do our utmost to support Blackpink’s activities, and we will cheer on the members’ individual activities with warm hearts,” read YG’s statement

Established under YG in 2016, Blackpink has soared to unprecedented levels of recognition and global popularity. As the quartet garnered increased attention, there were speculations suggesting that a substantial renegotiation of their deal would be necessary, potentially in favour of the artists.

The most recent global tour by Blackpink comprised 66 performances across 34 cities, attracting an audience of 2.1 million spectators. Additionally, each member of Blackpink has independently broadened their footprint in the global entertainment industry through solo musical projects.
