Metallica Unveils Cliff Burton Exhibit in Their Online Museum

Metallica has announced the launch of a new Cliff Burton exhibition through their digital museum. Titled ‘Orion: A Tribute To Cliff Burton,’ the exhibit is one of four collections dedicated to the late bassist, who passed away in 1986. The Orion exhibition is now available for viewing on Metallica’s Black Box museum via the band’s official website.

This digital exhibition, exclusive to Fifth Member fan club members (free to join), features archival photographs, old video interviews, letters written by Burton, and more. It includes memorabilia from his time with Metallica and items from his personal life, provided by friends and family.

The first of the four exhibitions is currently open, with a second installment set to launch on 13th August through the Metallica Black Box museum.

Cliff Burton was a member of Metallica from 1982 until his tragic death at the age of 24 in a bus accident in September 1986 while on tour with the band. He was a key songwriter for Metallica’s first three albums: ‘Kill ‘Em All,’ ‘Ride The Lightning’ and ‘Master Of Puppets’.

Following Burton’s death, Jason Newsted joined Metallica as their bassist and stayed with the band until 2001, recording four albums: ‘…And Justice For All,’ ‘Metallica,’ ‘Load’ and ‘Reload’. Robert Trujillo took over as bassist in late 2003 and has been with the band ever since, contributing to three studio albums and a collaborative album with Lou Reed titled ‘Lulu’.

In other news, Metallica’s self-titled album, also known as ‘The Black Album,’ recently surpassed 750 weeks on the Billboard 200 charts. The album features five singles: ‘Enter Sandman,’ ‘The Unforgiven,’ ‘Nothing Else Matters,’ ‘Wherever I May Roam’ and ‘Sad But True’.

The announcement of the new Cliff Burton exhibition in Metallica’s digital museum is a heartfelt tribute to their iconic late bassist. ‘Orion: A Tribute To Cliff Burton’ not only honours his legacy but also offers fans an intimate look into his life and career through rare photographs, interviews, and personal memorabilia. The exclusivity for Fifth Member fan club members adds a special touch, encouraging more fans to join. Additionally, the continuous celebration of Metallica’s history, including the milestone of ‘The Black Album’ on the Billboard 200, showcases the band’s enduring impact on the music industry and their dedicated fanbase.
