Mick Jagger to Release New Solo Single ‘Strange Game’ This Week

Mick Jagger has revealed that he will release a new solo song called “Strange Game” this week. The upcoming track serves as the theme song to the new series Slow Horses. The single was co-written by the Rolling Stones frontman and Academy Award-nominated film composer Daniel Pemberton.

On 28th March, Jagger teased the collaboration by tweeting: “I’ve been working on a fun project with the composer Daniel Pemberton… look out for it coming soon!”

Pemberton said in a statement: “Working with Mick Jagger has been one of the most exciting collaborations of my professional career. I think we have managed to create an incredibly unique and original title’s theme and I cannot wait for the rest of the world to hear it.”

Slow Horses’ series director, James Hawes, added: “We always wanted a song to set the tone for the show and there was only ever one name in my mind – Mick Jagger. Hearing the track for the first time was utterly thrilling.

“Mick’s lyrics and performance have totally nailed the mood of Slow Horses, with all the humour and swagger I dreamed of.”

‘Strange Game’ is described as a “poignant, moodily strutting theme tune” that is “underpinned by Jagger’s powerful and eery vocals”. It also makes references to the original score and the show’s numerous narratives.

Polydor/Universal Music will release the song on 1st April. Slow Horses is based on a series of bestselling books by British thriller novelist Mick Herron and stars Gary Oldman.

The six-part series also stars Kristen Scott Thomas, Jonathan Pryce, Olivia Cook and Jack Lowden. The Rolling Stones have released details of their upcoming 60th anniversary UK and European tour, which will begin this summer. In other news, guitarist Keith Richards has revealed that their touring drummer Steve Jordan will assist the band in finishing their upcoming new album. Richards also admitted that he “played a lot of bass” on the album.
