Miley Cyrus Teases Release of ‘Heart of Glass’ Cover
Miley Cyrus has taken the ‘reinvention’ bull by the horns in this new era of music. Marked by the release of her latest single – the electrifying, ‘Midnight Sky’, Miley has been embracing a new era of artistry. And, this one is characterised by hard-hitting hooks, telling songwriting and a whole of retro sparkle.
A Love Affair with Classics
Further, the ‘Wrecking Ball’ hitmaker has been offering up a slew of disco-pop covers. From the Hall & Oates classic, ‘Maneater’ to Blondie’s ‘Heart of Glass’, Miley’s been dishing out refurbished versions of these slick songs.
Last week, Miley took the iHeart Radio Music Festival stage, performing her single, ‘Midnight Sky’. And, then went on to deliver a pumped up, high-energy rendition of the Blondie classic. The performance was praised by fans world over. And, some even credit her with introducing younger audiences with the 1970s classic.
And, now, the singer has teased an official release of her previously performed cover of ‘Heart of Glass’. Cyrus took to her social media earlier today, asking fans if they’d like a recorded cover version of the song. And, she was met with an overwhelming wave of ‘yes’s’.
The Prominence of ‘Heart of Glass’
‘Heart of Glass’ originally performed and written by the American new wave, Blondie, was released back in 1979. The track achieved commerical and critical success upon release, topping charts both internationally and in the US. Further, it was a self-written and self-produced hit, penned by frontwoman – Debbie Harry and the band’s guitarist, Chris Stein.
In addition, this cover marks one in a long list of many performed by Miley Cyrus. The singer has always shared her love of classics, performing her own renditions of songs like ‘Jolene’ and Jeff Buckley’s ‘Lilac Wine’.
There have been no updates about the official release of the cover as yet. But, keep your eyes peeled for updates on Miley’s social media.
