Monsta x ‘s Wonhoo Is Not Guilty as Charged
Monsta X has simply bloomed over the past year as their music has managed to skyrocket through charts world over. Reaching the global frontier is no small feat and the fact that the band managed to do so despite so much internal turmoil is truly commendable.
But now, things are looking brighter for them. The band’s former member, Wonho, has been cleared of all charges by the Seoul police in an investigation into allegations of past drug usage. Wonho’s temporary departure from the band had fans heartbroken, and understandably so. Soon enough, they began trending the hashtag #FightForWonho across social media platforms, in a plea for justice. Wonho himself decided to step down in order to keep the wave of bad publicity from reaching the band.
While their agency, Starship Entertainment, remained silent throughout the investigation which began in September, now they’ve finally spoken up. They released a statement declaring, “During the investigation, Wonho actively cooperated with the police and all investigation procedures, including scientific examinations by the investigative agencies. Regardless of any above, we would like to apologize once again for the fact that Starship Entertainment and Wonho have caused great concern to our fans. We also thank all our fans for their unwavering support while the investigation was conducted.”
It concludes with, “We will continue to fully support Wonho for developing his own career in the future.”
There is still no clarity as to whether Wonho will re-join the band, as fans are hoping. Right now, it appears that the ball is in their agency’s court. We’ll have to wait and see how things unfold over the next few weeks, but there’s a high chance that this fight isn’t over yet.
