Monsters’ Star Cooper Koch Reflects on Sleepless Nights Before First Golden Globe Nomination
Cooper Koch commemorates a significant professional achievement after receiving his first Golden Globe nomination for his role in ‘Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story’. The 28-year-old actor was both excited and shocked when his name was announced alongside Hollywood heavyweights like Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor. He woke up early on 9th December to watch the announcement live with his partner.
Koch acknowledges that he had a hard time sleeping the night before since he was both nervous about the prospect of being nominated and ready for failure. He and his companion cheered when presenters Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut revealed his name, embracing and relishing the moment.
The actor’s team and coworkers, including Ryan Murphy, Ari Graynor, and Javier Bardem, who portrayed his father in the series and was nominated for a Golden Globe, showered him with support. Colman Domingo, another nominated, complimented Koch as well, fostering a sense of unity among the honorees.

Koch reflected on his path and talked about how strange it felt, remembering how two years ago he was doing a variety of occupations, such as scooping ice cream and teaching yoga. His life changed drastically when ‘Monsters’ became successful. Despite acknowledging that he is experiencing imposter syndrome, he was thankful and proud of his progress.
Before returning to work, Koch organised a laid-back party with his manager, siblings, and partner, including breakfast at a diner. He said he was excited to attend the awards event on 5th January and described it as a “dream come true.”
Currently ‘Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story’ is streaming.
