Morrissey has departed from his latest label and Miley Cyrus has asked to be taken off of his upcoming album ‘Bonfire of Teenagers’. This comes after he recently signed to Capitol Records to release his album in the coming year as a follow up to his 2020 album ‘I am a Dog on a Chain’. He posted on his official handles that he had “voluntarily parted company with Maverick/Quest management”. The post also stated that he had “voluntarily withdrawn from any association with Capitol Records (Los Angeles).” This post was titled: “Roll on 2023.”
There has been no clarification as to whether or not Capitol Records will still move forward with the release of ‘Bonfire of Teenagers’. Apart from this, one of its star collaborators has also apparently requested to be removed from the record.
A post shared earlier today read, “Miley Cyrus now wants to be taken off the song ‘I Am Veronica’ for which she volunteered backing vocals almost two years ago. This comes at a time when Morrissey has disassociated himself with Capitol Records (Los Angeles), who control the hidden album ‘Bonfire of Teenagers’.”
Miley Cyrus was one of the big names who were to be a part of the album, which also included Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith and Flea and Iggy Pop. It was produced by Andrew Watt (Post Malone, Ozzy Osbourne, Justin Bieber).
Signs of trouble between Morrissey and Capitol Records surfaced in November when a post on their website stated, “‘Bonfire of Teenagers’ is no longer scheduled for a February release, as stated by this site. It's fate is exclusively in the hands of Capitol Records (Los Angeles).” Morrissey earlier claimed that the record is “the best album of his life,” and songs from the album have also premiered during his gigs.
