Most Controversial Moments Of CeeLo Green

During a magazine interview, CeeLo Green dissed the most famous female rappers of today. He shared his thoughts on the content currently explored in the rap scene. He thinks is so explicit, that the artists don’t realise the “cost”of it. Not only that, he took a dig at Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj while giving his opinions.

CeeLo Green’s Comments

“A lot of music today is very unfortunate and disappointing on a personal and moral level. There was once a time when we were savvy enough to code certain things. We could express to those it was meant for with the style of language we used. But now music is shameless, it is sheer savagery. There should be a time and a place for adult content.”

“Attention is also a drug and competition is around. Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, they are all more or less doing similar salacious gesturing to kinda get into position. I get it, the independent woman and being in control, the divine femininity and sexual expression. I get it all.”

“You have the ‘Heads of State,’ like Nicki Minaj or someone who is up there in accolade: success, visibility, a platform to influence. Nicki could be effective in so many other constructive ways, but it feels desperate.”

Controversy

Fans of the female rappers are upset by these comments. With a history of disrespecting women, CeeLo Green has added more fuel to the fire. Fans have been flooding the internet with tweets which are aiming at his morals. They are also questioning the fact that the singer didn’t bring up any male rappers names in his interview.

CeeLo Green Targets The Gay Community

In 2011, CeeLo Green put out some rather homophobic remarks on social media and fell into a lot of trouble due to his actions. It all started when a journalist reviewed his performance, saying, “It failed to measure up to the fun factor of his recorded material. Green spent most of the set stationed in front of a microphone at the center of the stage, barely moving an inch while he sang, and flanked by two forgettable back-up singers and a DJ that was all but hidden behind a giant LCD display.”

CeeLo Green’s Comment

“I respect your criticism but be fair! People enjoyed last night! I’m guessing ur gay? And my masculinity offended u? well fuck U!”

“Apologies gay community! what was homophobic about that?”

Controversy

Fans got furious about his homophobic comment and called the singer out on Twitter. CeeLo Green tried to justify his side by saying that it was all in good fun. In an interview, he defended himself by saying, “I am not harboring any sort of negative feeling toward the gay community. I am one of the most liberal artists that I think you will ever meet, and I pride myself on that.”

CeeLo Green Gets Booked For A Rape Charge

Around July 12 and July 14, 2012, CeeLo Green allegedly slipped ecstasy to a 33-year-old female and after the investigation, the evidence were not enough to warrant rape charges. The woman who remains unnamed clarified that she woke up naked in the singer’s bed and had no memory of the incident.

CeeLo Green’s Comment

“If someone is passed out they’re not even WITH you consciously! so WITH Implies consent. People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!! (sic)”

Controversy

The tweets came right after he was accused of the rape charge and it led to a lot of backlash. People started commenting negatively on his tweet and soon, CeeLo Green deleted them. He also temporarily deactivated his Twitter account. Shortly after, he apologised for his misconduct.

“Let me 1st praise god for exoneration fairness & freedom! Secondly I sincerely apologize for my comments being taken so far out of context. I only intended on a healthy exchange to help heal those who love me from the pain I had already caused from this. Please forgive me as it was your support that got me thru this to begin with. I’d never condone the harm of any women. Thank you.”
