Naomi Campbell Responds to Rihanna Shade Rumours During New York Fashion Week
Naomi Campbell is putting to rest any speculation that she threw shade at Rihanna during New York Fashion Week.
The 54-year-old supermodel and stylist Law Roach—known for his work with Zendaya—stirred up some buzz on social media following the Alaïa fashion show on 6th September. Their shared video led many to believe they were subtly critiquing the “Umbrella” singer and her outfit from the event.
In the clip, Campbell and Roach joked about being “demure” and “mindful” in their fashion choices, stating that they “don’t go to the shows like the other girls.” Roach remarked, “We don’t come with our ta**s out or our ch**his out. Very demure,” to which Campbell added, “Very mindful.” She continued, “It’s not about showing yourself; it’s about showing the clothes.”

Viewers quickly accused the duo of targeting Rihanna, 36, who sported a revealing outfit and breezed past them upon entering, only greeting former British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, who was seated next to Campbell.
However, Campbell recently clarified her stance in an interview with The New York Times, stating, “I’m not about to let the world pitch two Black women against each other. We are two women with two children, mothers.”

While Campbell chose not to elaborate further on the Fashion Week incident, Roach took to X the day after their Instagram post to address the rumors. “Y’all always think something has to be something,” he said in the video. “But something ain’t always something. Sometimes, something is just nothing. So stop trying to make nothing into something. You know what? Y’all need to get some business.”
He capped it off with the caption, “Can y’all just stop making [stuff] up?”
