Nick Frost Turns Off Instagram Comments After Backlash Over ‘Harry Potter’ Role

After receiving criticism from fans for his involvement in the J.K. Rowling-created brand, Nick Frost disabled comments on his Instagram post revealing his part in the upcoming ‘Harry Potter’ TV series.

The actor, who is most known for his parts in ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘Hot Fuzz’, posted a picture of herself clutching ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ to commemorate the casting announcement. The caption thanked her for being given the part of Hagrid in the 2027 television revival.  He promised not to disappoint the late Robbie Coltrane, who played the adored half-giant at the beginning.

Fans were initially permitted to leave comments on the post, but after numerous people criticised Frost for being associated with the project, the ability was removed.  Rowling’s public position on transgender issues, which has been the subject of intense criticism since 2019, is mostly to blame for the dispute.  She has gained notoriety more recently for making fun of the asexual community on X (previously Twitter).

Rowling’s viewpoints have caused a breach with many fans, and even the original leads in the ‘Harry Potter’ films, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, have publicly disagreed with her views.

Frost disabled comments on the casting post, but his other posts still feature critical messages.  Disabling comments, according to one follower, demonstrated that he recognised the response and that he had lost the respect of many.  Another expressed regret over his decision to work on a Rowling-related project and cautioned that he would lose supporters as a result.
