'Pink Friday 2' debuts with 228,000 equivalent album units in the U.S., marking the most substantial week for a rap album by a woman in the 2020s decade and the largest for an R&B/hip-hop album by a woman this year. Additionally, the album sold 25,000 copies on vinyl, setting a record as the most significant week for a rap album by a woman since Luminate began electronically tracking sales in 1991.

The Billboard 200 chart assesses the most popular albums in the U.S. for the week, utilising multi-metric consumption measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units include album sales, track albums and streaming albums. Each unit is equivalent to one album sale or the sale of 10 individual tracks from an album.

During its inaugural week, ‘Pink Friday 2’ achieved remarkable success by selling 25,000 copies on vinyl. This accomplishment represents the most substantial sales week for a rap album by a woman since Luminate initiated the tracking of sales in 1991. Intriguingly, this marks the fifth occasion when Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift have concurrently occupied the top two positions on the chart.
