Nicole Kidman and Salma Hayek 'Bombarded' During Viral Paris Fashion Week Moment

Nicole Kidman and Salma Hayek recently went viral after a video surfaced from Paris Fashion Week, sparking rumours of tension between the two. However, a source tells PEOPLE that the incident has been blown out of proportion.

The video, taken at the Balenciaga show shows the actresses, along with Katy Perry, posing for photos. Hayek appears to guide Kidman by putting an arm across her body, but Kidman moves Hayek's hand and turns to hug Perry. This led to online speculation about their interaction, but a source who was present says, "nothing happened," explaining that they were simply being overwhelmed by photographers during a conversation. "People are creating drama from nothing," the insider added.

Another clip from the event shows Kidman smiling and rubbing Hayek’s shoulder, further indicating no bad blood between them. A source close to the two confirmed, "This whole situation is silly. Salma and Nicole have a lot of love and respect for each other."

Hayek later shared photos from the event on Instagram, including one with Kidman. This marked Kidman’s first public appearance since her mother’s passing in September. She also attended a Miu Miu dinner party with her daughter, Sunday Rose, who made her runway debut at the fashion show.

Kidman, who became a Balenciaga ambassador in December, has a connection to Hayek beyond fashion. Hayek's husband, François-Henri Pinault, CEO of Kering (Balenciaga’s parent company), was seated next to his wife and Kidman at the show. Additionally, Hayek has long been friends with Kidman’s ex-husband, Tom Cruise, dating back to their 2006 film ‘Ask the Dust’. They've remained close, and Hayek even celebrated Cruise’s 62nd birthday with a sweet post earlier this year.
