Noah Cyrus Tears Up When Discussing Her Big Sister
Noah Cyrus recently celebrated the release of her new EP, The End of Everything, but got a tad bit tearful when discussing one of her tracks. Growing up as Miley Cyrus’s little sister can come with a lot of pressure. The pop star was thrust into the industry at a very young age and naturally, that’s bound to have an effect on the whole family. And this is exactly what the artist touched upon in her track, “Young & Sad”.
For those of you who aren’t too familiar with Noah’s music, well to put it simply, it’s a lot less pop and a lot more Indie. In fact, one can even go as far as saying that some of her tracks fall under the umbrella of Ballads. You’ll see a sliver of that in “Young & Sad”. From start to finish, this song is painfully heartbreaking. A lot of it arises from Noah’s haunting, melancholic melodies that carry you through the song.
In fact, the tune even starts with a sweet message from her father, reminding her to keep smiling and that she “ain’t alone”. Before diving into her tearful message about the song, it’s important to glance over the lyrics for a better understanding:
My sister’s like sunshine
Always bringing good light
Wherever she will go
And I was born to rain clouds
When they blew the flame out
Blessed in our shadows
So let me go, I don’t need you to wipe my tears
Don’t you know I’m only tryin’ to disappear?
[Chorus]
Don’t wanna be young and sad another day longer
What this Track Means to Noah Cyrus
“I think just the message of the second verse, being born in the family I was in, everybody gave me such a hard time for having a hard time being Miley’s little sister,” Noah explained. “But I always felt like I was that person that no one gave a shit about due to what people said to me online. It was absolutely unbearable and that’s why I write, ‘My sister’s like sunshine/ Always bringing good light wherever she will go/ And I was born to rain clouds … Blessed in her shadows.'”
Despite having to overcome a lot, it’s clear that she’s still coming to terms with the neglect she faced while growing up. And yet, perhaps there’s no need to look back too often because after all, she has made a name for herself in the industry. And if that isn’t proof of talent, then we don’t know what is.
