‘Nutcrackers’ Trailer: Ben Stiller Stars as Caretaker for Orphaned Nephews in Christmas Comedy

Ben Stiller makes a comeback to the big screen in the Christmas comedy ‘Nutcrackers’, in which he plays the unexpected role of caregiver. PEOPLE has an exclusive first look at the trailer for Stiller’s first major motion picture role in seven years.

Stiller portrays Mike in ‘Nutcrackers’, a workaholic who is forced to raise his four active, orphaned nephews in rural Ohio. Real-life siblings Homer, Ulysses, Atlas, and Arlo Janson, all making their film debuts, embody these roles.

The picture, which was directed by David Gordon Green, who is well-known for his work on ‘Pineapple Express’ and the most recent ‘Halloween’ trilogy, examines themes of love, family, and development in a heartwarming environment. Green clarified that his goal was to write a story devoid of cynicism, using the youthful cast’s enthusiasm and the organic rhythms of rural life as inspiration.

The trailer, which is coupled with Tchaikovsky’s ‘The Nutcracker’ soundtrack, focuses on Mike’s emotional and turbulent journey as he develops a bond with his nephews. The family becomes closer as a result of the mayhem and humorous mishaps, highlighting lessons about enduring love and connection.

In addition to Linda Cardellini, Edi Patterson, Tim Heidecker, and Toby Huss, ‘Nutcrackers’ made its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Thinking back on his comeback to acting, Stiller told Variety that his hiatus wasn’t prearranged but instead developed organically as he concentrated on directing films such as Severance and Escape at Dannemora.

Hulu will debut ‘Nutcrackers’ on 29th November.
