Offset Refers to Cardi B as “Bestie”, Says “Always Got my Back, Right or Wrong”
When discussing his relationship with wife Cardi B, Offset is unabashed in his praise. In a recent interview, he gushed, “My bestie!” about his eagerly anticipated new solo album, their strong relationship, and his enduring grief over the passing of Migos bandmate Takeoff last year.
He continued, referring to the ‘Up’ rapper with whom he shares kids Kulture and Wave, by saying, “She always got my back, right or wrong.” He added, “We both are on the same mission to make each other better. Social is her strong point, so I listen to her social advice. And me, it’s the music, but I play behind the scenes; it’s my wife so I want to make sure she win.”
Offset stated he and his wife make a “great team” despite their ups and downs, which have included two annulled divorce petitions by Cardi due to claims of his alleged adultery. Actually, he thinks they have reached “powerhouse status at this point — icon status. We believe in family. We’re always going to keep winning.”
Since Takeoff passed away in Houston last November, a loss he is still incredibly trying to get over, he has needed to rely on her a little more. He said to the magazine, “It’s hard for me to talk about s-t right now. That s–t hurts.”
Cardi acknowledged how close they are now, praising her husband’s qualities in an interview. “No matter what issue I am having personally or professionally, I know he will take care of me and our family,” she said. “It’s handled. I know that I have a man who has my back for real. I fully support him in this next chapter of his music career.”
But as he works on the follow-up to his 2019 solo debut, ‘Father of Four’, the rapper teased another collaboration with his wife, who has previously worked with him on 2019’s ‘Clout’ and the Migos’ ‘Motorsport’ and ‘Type S-t.’ Travis Scott, Future, Chloe Bailey, and Latto are also expected to appear on the album.
Offset didn’t mention which songs will be on the album, which is anticipated to be released this summer, but a Capitol Records representative informed that Offset had created a “phenomenal” record. “We can’t wait until the world hears his masterpiece,” the label representative said. “We’re deep into release planning now and will soon have big news to share!”
