Olivia Rodrigo Mentioned in a Spotify Wrapped Message That New Music is on The Cards For 2023

Olivia Rodrigo hinted in her Spotify Wrapped statement that ‘new music’ would be released in 2023 as she continued to tease her much anticipated second album.

The short video message was distributed to Rodrigo’s most devoted Spotify listeners in time for the start of this year’s Spotify Wrapped campaign.

Addressing her fans directly, she said in the message: “I just wanted to say thank you so much for listening to my music this year. I really, truly couldn’t be more grateful and I am so excited for next year, and all of the new things and new music that 2023 will bring.”

Rodrigo has promoted her follow-up to her critically acclaimed debut album, ‘Sour,’ for a large portion of this year. She disclosed in February that she had selected the title and had a few songs prepared for it. Later, in an interview with Elle, she hinted that LP2 might have a more upbeat vibe, saying that she is certainly not as melancholic now as she was when she was writing ‘Sour.’

It was announced in August that Rodrigo had started work on her new album, once again collaborating with ‘Sour’ producer Dan Nigro.

On the debut album, the two collaborated closely. It was released by Geffen in May of last year and immediately propelled Rodrigo to prominence. The album received numerous accolades, including three Grammys and six wins at this year’s Billboard Music Awards. In addition to giving the US Billboard 200 chart the biggest first-week figures it had ever seen, Rodrigo made UK chart history as the first female artist to have three of the top five singles in the same week and later the youngest artist to be ranked number one on two concurrent charts.

Rodrigo spent a large portion of 2022 on the road, creating waves with her dozens of buzzy cameos and events when she wasn’t writing for her second album. Following that, Rodrigo performed a cover of Natalie Imbruglia’s song ‘Torn’ at a surprise performance in Manchester; she would subsequently sing the song in London alongside Imbruglia.
