Pamela Anderson Celebrates First Golden Globe Nomination
After receiving her first-ever Golden Globe nomination, Pamela Anderson is commemorating a major professional milestone. The actress, who started her career in 1989 as a Playboy model, won a prize in the Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture — Drama category for her performance in Gia Coppola’s film ‘The Last Showgirl’.
Anderson thanked the movie’s crew, her family, and her partners in a statement expressing her thanks for the nomination. She described this realization as a profoundly meaningful experience and thought about the significance of remaining receptive to opportunities and welcoming new phases in life.
The song ‘Beautiful That Way’ from ‘The Last Showgirl’, which was co-written by Miley Cyrus, Andrew Wyatt, and Lykke Zachrisson, is also featured in the nomination. Renowned actresses like Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Tilda Swinton, Kate Winslet, and Fernanda Torres are among the competitors in Anderson’s category.

In ‘The Last Showgirl’, Anderson plays Shelly, a quiet dancer from Las Vegas who is left feeling confused after her long-running performance is shut down. Reconciliation and reinvention are explored throughout the narrative, as is Shelly’s attempt to mend her connection with her estranged daughter, played by Billie Lourd. Another noteworthy role is played by Jamie Lee Curtis, who plays Annette, Shelly’s best friend and a former dancer who now works as a cocktail waitress.
This nomination marks Anderson’s debut as a serious actress, after decades of work in well-known films like ‘Baywatch’ and ‘Home Improvement’. The film’s director, Coppola, has likened Anderson to Marilyn Monroe, pointing out the similarities between her own life and the narrative of her character Shelly, as well as her wish to display her skills.
Before a wider release in January, ‘The Last Showgirl’ will make its theatrical debut soon.
