Pedro Pascal Backs ‘Icon’ Rachel Zegler After ‘Snow White’ Flop

Given the unfavorable reviews for the live-action ‘Snow White’ adaptation, Pedro Pascal has stated his support for Rachel Zegler.

Before its March premiere, the Disney movie was involved in a number of disputes.  The lead actress, Zegler, reportedly hired a “social media guru” to keep an eye on her posts during the movie’s promotional campaign after she and the studio disagreed over her political beliefs.  Zegler, a Latina performer, also encountered racist remarks because a non-white actress was cast in a part that is often played by a figure who is said to have “skin as white as snow.”  She addressed the criticism in 2023, calling it “nonsensical discourse” and saying she hoped all children understood that they could be princesses regardless of how they looked.

Notwithstanding the controversy, the movie did poorly at the box office, making only $42.2 million in the US, which was far less than what was anticipated for a picture with a budget of $240–270 million.  With a current rating of 1.6 out of 10, it also has one of the lowest IMDb ratings.

Pedro Pascal posted a picture of Zegler on Instagram along with the statement, “@RachelZegler #icon,” as a way to show solidarity.  Melissa Barrera, star of Scream, further reinforced his support, calling an article about Zegler a “hit piece” and pointing out that the same journalist had targeted both her and Zegler.

Pascal, who will be featured in ‘The Last of Us’ second season, is now being lovingly called “Pedge” by his co-star Bella Ramsey.  Pascal also mockingly referred to the showrunners as “sick people” and teased viewers that the next season of ‘The Last of Us’ will be “f*cking heartbreaking.”
