Pedro Pascal is in Talks to Play Reed Richards in ‘Fantastic Four’

In the ever-expanding universe of Marvel Studios, the spotlight is currently focused on the casting buzz surrounding the iconic superhero team, the ‘Fantastic Four.’ After months of fervent speculation, it seems that the wait for the actor to step into the shoes of Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, might be nearing its end. According to reports, the three-time Emmy nominee Pedro Pascal is currently in talks for the role.

While the deal is not yet sealed, insiders suggest that negotiations are moving in the right direction, despite the complexity of Pascal’s schedule. The actor is set to take on roles in ‘Gladiator 2’ and the eagerly anticipated HBO series ‘The Last of Us.’ With multiple projects in the pipeline, the logistics are being carefully navigated to accommodate Pascal’s involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel Studios, true to form, remains tight-lipped about the ongoing talks. The anticipation is palpable, and fans are eager to see if Pascal will be the one to bring the intellectual and elastic superhero to life on the big screen.

The timing of these negotiations is crucial, as the casting of Reed Richards lays the foundation for the rest of the team. With hopes of starting production early next year, the remaining members of the Fantastic Four will likely be announced soon. Director Matt Shakman is gearing up for the project at Pinewood Studios in England, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is set to produce the film.

Pedro Pascal’s star has been on a meteoric rise, marked by his acclaimed performance in ‘The Last of Us,’ where he not only garnered an Emmy nomination but also hosted a standout episode of ‘Saturday Night Live.’ His upcoming projects, including ‘Gladiator 2’ and ‘Weapons,’ make his schedule very hectic and so, it’s uncertain if the actor will take up more projects.

However, fans are against the idea of Pascal playing the role and instead want John Krasinski to play Mr. Fantastic.

If the negotiations bear fruit, Pascal will become the third actor to take on the role of Reed Richards, following Ioan Gruffudd and Miles Teller. The prospect of Pascal joining the Marvel family brings a fresh perspective to the character, and fans are eager to see his take on the iconic superhero.

As for the upcoming Fantastic Four film, director Matt Shakman promises a unique and unprecedented approach. Speaking on the project, Shakman hinted at a departure from the conventional Marvel formula, stating, “It’s different in so many ways. I wish I could be specific. I wish I could say more. But we are doing things very differently from a story standpoint, from an approach to the filmmaking standpoint, that really fits the material.”
