It looks like a biopic on online sensation Ranu Mondal is in the works and she will be portrayed on screen by the National Award-winning Bengali actress Sudipta Chakraborty who has been offered the role. The 59-year-old woman used to sing outside the Kolkata railway station and became an overnight sensation after her soulful rendition of Lata Mangeshkar’s classic number ‘Ek pyaar ka nagma hai’ went viral.
And since then, the singer’s been garnering a lot of attention, even from stars. Music composer-actor Himesh Reshammiya has recorded a song titled ‘Teri Meri Kahani’ with Mondal. He revealed that the song will feature in his upcoming film ‘Happy Hardy and Heer’.
Concerning the biopic, it’s said to be titled as ‘Platform singer Ranu Mondal’ and will revolve around the singer’s journey from Ranaghat railway station to Bollywood.
