Real-Life Couple Alison Brie and Dave Franco Dive into Dark Psychological Twists in ‘Together’ Trailer

In the new horror movie ‘Together’, Dave Franco and Alison Brie’s on-screen romance faces horrific obstacles.

According to the recently released teaser for Neon, which was written and directed by Michael Shanks, the movie opens with Brie’s character Millie being carried by her husband Tim (Franco) into their picturesque new home in the woods.  However, the calm moment soon becomes eerie.

When Tim removes an infinite black thread from his mouth while staring at himself in the mirror, strange events intensify. They begin with two canines in the forest, stuck in place.  A student’s unsettling painting of two conjoined, fire-tailed dogs foaming at the mouth is discovered by Millie, who appears to be a teacher.

The trailer features progressively unsettling imagery set to an eerie piano score:  A figure levitating and trembling violently, Millie’s body twisting strangely as though she were possessed, and Tim shrieking from inside a pit.  Tim tells Millie love you in the middle of the confusion, and she reciprocates.

For the first time since ‘The Disaster Artist’ and ‘The Little Hours’, Brie and Franco appear together on screen in Shanks’ directorial debut, ‘Together’.  The movie, which debuted at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, was also co-produced by Franco.

The narrative centres on a couple who experience a supernatural force that fundamentally changes their relationship, lives, and even bodies after relocating to the country.

Brie, who expressed admiration for Franco’s abilities, talked about how working with him strengthened their relationship during the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival.  Franco concurred, stating that working on each project together increases their mutual regard.

On 1st August, ‘Together’ will be released in theatres.
