Release Date of ‘Donda 2’ is Out Now

Kanye West has confirmed that the sequel of his album Donda is going to release on 2nd February. The follow-up to 2021’s 26-track collection named after Kanye’s late mother would be the first sequel project in West’s 10-album studio album catalog, and no additional information was available on potential features or a first single.

Speculation about a sequel album to ‘DONDA’ has been mounting in recent weeks. Steven Victor, who worked with West as the COO of his label G.O.O.D. Music – stated earlier this month that the rapper and producer, who is now legally known as Ye, was working on what he described as “his new masterpiece”. Victor followed up his comments this week by revealing in a new interview that ‘DONDA 2’ was “coming sooner than you think”.

Kanye West wrote on Instagram, “DONDA2 COMING 2 22 22 EXECUTIVE PRODUCED BY FUTURE,”. The post comes alongside a mock-up image of his childhood home, on fire and on a billboard pole, with the date “2 22 22” displayed on the side of it.

After a number of delays and missed release dates, the first Donda finally dropped on 29th August 2021, following a series of packed stadium listening parties in which West played the then still-in-process collection, whose track and the guest list continued to shift before — and after its release. The original Donda featured a raft of guests, including Jay-Z, Playboi Carti, Lil Baby, The Weeknd, as well as controversial contributions from Marilyn Manson and DaBaby.

West, who is notorious for announcing and then pushing back release dates and endlessly tinkering with his music before and sometimes after it’s released, has not revealed any additional information about Donda 2.
