Rihanna Issues an Apology for Savage x Fenty Scandal

Rohanna issues official apology

The 5th and 6th of October were supposed to be good days for Rihanna and her Savage x Fenty team. But, things took a turn for the worse when the singer and her team were called out for a messy incident of cultural appropriation. The singer promoted the second season of her upcoming Savage x Fenty lingerie line.

But, what people heard in the background of one of the trailers was a track called ‘Doom’, produced by Coucou Chloe – a London based producer. And, the problem? The track featured verses from the Islamic Hadith – one of the most sacred texts in Islamic culture and religion.

Savage x Fenty Issues Official Apology

Fans quickly called out the occurrence and asked Rihanna for a response. And, in a pleasant show of accountability, Rihanna and her team issued a detailed and reassuring apology to fans and viewers world over. The statement addressed the issue, and offered rectification of the mistake, too.

Late last night, the Fenty social media pages posted an official statement. The note read: “Per Savage x Fenty, we truly apologise for the song that appeared in the Savage x Fenty show. We shouldn’t have used it.” Further, they wrote, “The song’s vocals tracks are being replaced and the show is being edited.”

Rihanna Makes Public Statement

In addition, Rihanna herself issued an apology via the Savage x Fenty pages. The singer wrote, “I would like to apologise to you [Muslim community] for this honest, yet careless mistake. We understand that we have hurt many Muslim brothers and sisters, and I am incredibly disheartened by this.”

Further, she added, “Moving forward, we will make sure nothing like this ever happens again. Thank you for your forgiveness and understanding.”
Now, the Savage x Fenty show has undergone the necessary changes. And, post-apology, fans have lauded Rihanna and her team for their show of accountability.
