Robert Pattinson Joins Star-Studded Heist Thriller ‘Here Comes the Flood’

Robert Pattinson is all set for a massive heist. 

An all-star cast has been officially confirmed for the upcoming heist thriller, ‘Here Comes the Flood’.  The picture, which will be directed by Fernando Meirelles and scripted by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Simon Kinberg, will star Robert Pattinson, Denzel Washington, and Daisy Edgar-Jones.

 Alongside Kinberg and Audrey Chon, Meirelles co-produces under the Genre Films label. He is well known for his critically praised film ‘City of God’.  An executive producer will be Samson Mucke. The production is expected to start this fall.

The project's road to the screen has been lengthy.  In 2020, OTT outbid rivals in a very competitive auction to purchase the script for a hefty seven-figure fee.  The streaming market was more competitive back then, and OTT was quickly growing its collection of original movies.  The role ultimately went to Meirelles, whose previous work includes ‘The Constant Gardener’ and ‘The Two Popes’, the latter of which received three Academy Award nominations, even though Jason Bateman was initially speculated to direct.

 ‘Here Comes the Flood’ is regarded as a novel approach to the heist genre, despite the fact that certain story points are still unknown.  A skilful thief, a teller, and a bank security guard play a tense and convoluted game of deception in the novel.  There will be plenty of surprises, betrayals, and psychological tricks in this non-linear story.

With parts in ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ and last year's action-packed ‘Twisters’, Daisy Edgar-Jones, who became well-known for her role in ‘Normal People’, has continued to elevate her image.  In contrast, Denzel Washington was recently seen in ‘Gladiator II’. He will next be seen in Spike Lee's ‘Highest 2 Lowest’, which is a remake of Akira Kurosawa's ‘High and Low’ and will have its Cannes Film Festival premiere prior to its August theatrical release.

 It's a hectic year for Robert Pattinson as well.  He co-stars with Jennifer Lawrence in Lynne Ramsay's ‘Die My Love’, which had its Cannes premiere this month.   Robert Pattinson co-stars with Zendaya in ‘The Drama’ and starred in Bong Joon Ho's ‘Mickey 17’ earlier this year.   Robert Pattinson is currently filming ‘The Odyssey’, a forthcoming epic directed by Christopher Nolan.

One of the most anticipated thrillers is ‘Here Comes the Flood’, which has a stellar crew behind the camera and a well-known ensemble in front of it.  As additional information becomes available before production later this year, stay tuned.
