'Rocky' Prequel in The Works? Sylvester Stallone Teases Exciting New Update

Rocky fans have reason to celebrate as Sylvester Stallone recently teased the possibility of a prequel to the iconic boxing saga. While the Rambo star has previously hinted at his desire to expand the Rocky universe, he recently shared some intriguing plot details for this upcoming chapter in the sports franchise.

Speaking on the Inspire Me podcast, Stallone expressed his deep connection to the project, saying, “The Rocky prequel is very near and dear to my heart.” In the interview, Stallone revealed that the prequel would not only explore Rocky Balboa’s life before the events of the 1976 film but also delve into the backgrounds of some of the series’ beloved characters.

Fans can look forward to discovering more about Paulie, played by Burt Young, and Adrian, portrayed by Talia Shire, as the story explores their teenage years. Stallone mentioned that Rocky would be depicted at age 17, while Paulie would be shown moving into a new neighbourhood.

The idea of a Rocky prequel series was first hinted at in 2021 when Stallone shared a handwritten note on Instagram, suggesting that the project might take the form of a series. Stallone, who brought the legendary character Rocky Balboa to life in six of his own films and two Creed movies, remains deeply involved in the franchise’s legacy.

As for the Creed series, the latest instalment saw Stallone’s absence as he officially retired from playing Rocky Balboa. Although the franchise is set to continue with a fourth Creed movie and a potential spinoff series, there are no indications that Stallone will return to his iconic role.

However, the prospect of a Rocky prequel series offers a fresh opportunity for fans to explore the origins of their favourite characters in a new light.
