Romero Announce Debut Album ‘Turn It On!’, Release Title Track

Romero has announced the release of their debut album ‘Turn It On!,’ releasing the title track which serves as the album’s fourth single. ‘Turn It On!’ which was released on 16th February is Romero’s first single of the year. Vocalist Alanna Oliver revealed that the song was inspired by a documentary on Blondie frontwoman Debbie Harry.

“One of the quotes was ‘she just gets on stage and she turns it on’,” she said.

“As soon as I heard this, I paused it and started writing. The lyrics flowed effortlessly. It was such a simple idea to channel that inner power. When I sing this song, I am now a woman who knows what she wants and how to get it.”

Triana Hernandez directed a music video for the song, which the band has also shared. For one seemingly disinterested bystander, the band performs beneath disco balls and dense smoke machines in the video.

The record, which will be released on April 8 via Cool Death/Feel It Records, is said to have taken three years to complete. The title tune continues the band’s streak of 2021 hits, which include ‘Troublemaker,’ ‘Honey,’ and ‘Neapolitan,’ all of which are included on the album. Check out the full tracklist below.

Romero was featured in The NME 100 Showcase last year. Oliver’s voice was described as “rich and subtly theatrical,” and the band was hailed as “emotional drama and riotous fun.”
