Rosé of BLACKPINK Embraces Vulnerability in New Track, ‘Number One Girl’

BLACKPINK’s Rosé has unveiled her new solo track, ‘Number One Girl,’ the second single from her upcoming debut studio album, Rosie. Released today (November 22) alongside an accompanying music video, the song is a heartfelt ballad. The video features dreamlike, grainy footage of the K-pop star wandering city streets at night as she delivers the emotional track.

‘Number One Girl’ follows last month’s release of ‘APT.’ featuring Bruno Mars, who is also credited as a co-producer on this latest single. Rosé’s debut album, Rosie, is set to drop on December 6.

Earlier this month, in an interview, Rosé discussed the inspiration behind ‘Number One Girl.’ She described it as an intensely vulnerable song born out of her experience reading hate comments late at night. Rosé reflected on how the online world made her feel both exposed and addicted, acknowledging a deep craving for love and understanding despite her frustration with herself for seeking it.

Additionally, Rosé previewed another track, ‘Toxic Till the End,’ on an Apple Music podcast. She revealed that the song was inspired by an ex she felt she had talked about excessively. Writing and recording the track, she said, allowed her to finally move on from the past.
