Rosie Perez Shares How Madonna Sought Her Help to Connect with Tupac Shakur Before Their Secret Romance

Recently, Rosie Perez revealed how she unwittingly ended up serving as a matchmaker between Tupac Shakur and Madonna. The ‘Do the Right Thing’ actress described a startling series of events that led to Madonna’s interest in Tupac on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’.

When Perez’s boyfriend abruptly cancelled their 1993 Soul Train Music Awards date out of concern that his girlfriend may see them together, she was left without a date. Perez was upset and angry when her friend Tupac Shakur called her out of the blue and offered to drive her to the function. To avenge her untrustworthy date, he proposed that they make a grand debut together.

When Madonna saw Perez with Tupac at the awards presentation, she became interested right away. After asking Perez if they were a couple, Madonna urged her to assist connect her with the rapper after Perez confirmed that they weren’t. Perez consented, unintentionally starting the brief but unforgettable covert relationship between Tupac and Madonna that lasted from 1993 to 1994.

Years later, Madonna affirmed their relationship and revealed that Tupac had had a significant impact on her, giving her courage and energy while they were together.
