Ryan Reynolds Writing New Non-Marvel Movie Starring Himself, Hugh Jackman, and ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Director
For a new film, Ryan Reynolds intends to work with director Shawn Levy and co-stars Hugh Jackman from ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’. In a recent interview with Variety, the actor revealed that he is setting aside time this year to write a movie that is entirely unrelated to Marvel and is intended for him, Jackman, and Levy to work on.
Reynolds stressed that this new movie will be distinct from both the Deadpool and Marvel Cinematic Universes, even if he did not provide all the specifics. Reynolds has written for a number of projects outside of the Deadpool movies, such as ‘Detective Pikachu’ and his Emmy-winning sitcom ‘Welcome to Wrexham’. Though it’s unclear if that project is related to the new one he described to Variety, he also co-wrote ‘Boy Band’, a movie Levy is directing.

Reynolds and Levy will be working together for the third time on this new project; they previously collaborated on ‘Free Guy’ (2021) and ‘The Adam Project’ (2022). Outside of the movie business, Levy, who is a producer and director on Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’, is close to Reynolds and Jackman. Outside of work, the three often hang out together. During the NFL season, they went out with Taylor Swift and Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively.
Reynolds, Jackman, and Levy recently got back together to celebrate the success of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ at a Q&A session. Levy posted pictures from the weekend to express gratitude for his time with the two actors and to emphasize the close relationship they had formed as a result of their work together.
