Sabrina Carpenter isn’t one to spill details about her love life.
In a recent cover story for W Magazine the 25-year-old pop star shared why she prefers to keep her relationships private, saying, "I get why people are interested, but they can listen to my album and decide for themselves what the songs are about."
In August, PEOPLE confirmed that Carpenter had been in an on-and-off relationship with actor Barry Keoghan, who appeared as her love interest in the ‘Please Please Please’ music video, which premiered in June.
Romance rumours between the two began after they were spotted having dinner in Los Angeles in December 2023, following their initial meeting at Paris Fashion Week a few months prior. They made their first public appearance at a Grammy Awards afterparty in February, where they posed separately on the red carpet but were seen cosying up inside the event. W Magazine later posted a photo of the pair together. Just a few days later, Carpenter and Keoghan, 31, confirmed their relationship when they were photographed kissing outside Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles.

Amid rumours of their split in August, Keoghan seemed to playfully respond by liking one of Carpenter’s flirty Instagram posts, where she posed in baby blue lingerie.
When asked about her relationship status during a June interview with Rolling Stone, Carpenter hinted at the undefined nature of her bond with Keoghan, asking how she should "skirt around" whether he was her boyfriend. She added, "The dating pool is the pool, and when you meet people that feel authentic and amazing in every way, that’s what you do."
As someone who channels her emotions into her music, Carpenter admitted she’s not surprised by the curiosity around her love life, acknowledging, "That’s something that comes with the territory."
