Sabrina Carpenter playfully referred to Christina Aguilera as her “mom” in a Kardashians-inspired social video while they were filming an undisclosed collaborative project. On Aguilera's Instagram, the two shared a clip of themselves on set lip-syncing to a well-known moment from The Kardashians, where Kylie Jenner expresses her "obsession" with her mother and manager, Kris.
“So you’re saying you’re her favourite?” someone asked in the audio, while Carpenter pans the camera to show Aguilera.
“That’s exactly what I’m saying,” Carpenter continued to lip-sync before hugging Aguilera and pointing at herself, while Jenner continued to speak in the audio: “I’m her favourite. We actually have a relationship like she has no other kids. Yeah.”

The two may have been on set to film footage for Aguilera’s upcoming Spotify Anniversaries episode, celebrating the 25th anniversary of her self-titled debut album from 1999, which will be released on 23rd September.
According to Rolling Stone, Carpenter and Machine Gun Kelly are set to duet with the ‘Genie in a Bottle’ singer as part of the video series, which will feature live performances of select tracks and behind-the-scenes stories from the album’s creation. Additionally, they could be recording content for Carpenter’s forthcoming seasonal OTT special, A Nonsense Christmas, where she will be joined by musical and comedic guests to perform songs from her 2023 Christmas EP, Fruitcake, including a festive version of her 2022 hit ‘Nonsense’.

Carpenter shared in August with PAPER that she has been a fan of Aguilera since childhood, referring to the pop icon as “one of my very first idols and icons.” She added, “She’s very special to me. Those songs raised me.”
Earlier this month, Carpenter won the Song of the Year award for her hit ‘Espresso’ at the 2024 MTV VMAs, where she also performed ‘Taste’ and ‘Please, Please, Please’. During her performance, she kissed an alien and paid tribute to Britney Spears by playing a snippet from ‘Oops!… I Did It Again’. Spears, who famously kissed Aguilera and Madonna at the 2003 VMAs, expressed that she didn’t “understand” the performance and found it “weird.”
Last month, Carpenter released her highly anticipated sixth album, Short n’ Sweet.
