Sabrina Carpenter Reflects on The Moment She Knew She Hit a New Level of Fame

In a revealing interview Sabrina Carpenter opened up about the moment she realised her fame had reached new heights. The ‘Nonsense’ singer reflected on a humorous mention by Dan and Eugene Levy during their opening monologue at the Emmys, which was a pivotal moment for her. “That was probably the first time I was like, Oh, I’m not even there,” she shared, acknowledging how surreal it felt to be referenced without her presence.

At this stage in her career, Carpenter feels prepared for the fame she’s experiencing. Reflecting on her recent MTV Video Music Awards performance, she described it as “another dream realised.” Growing up watching similar performances, she always aspired to reach such heights.

However, she had imagined a different timeline for when her success would unfold. After years of hard work in the music industry, she now sees the fruits of her labour.

“I feel so prepared for these moments,” Carpenter said. She admitted that if she had experienced this level of fame at 17 or 18, she would have been far more nervous and overwhelmed. Now, with maturity and experience, she feels more confident in handling the pressures of stardom.

Carpenter also shared the intense reaction she had upon learning she would be a musical guest on ‘Saturday Night Live’, saying she “literally threw up” from excitement. She mentioned that the same thing might happen if she ever performed at the Grammys.

In addition, Carpenter addressed the criticism she has faced for embracing her sexuality in her work.

She acknowledged the parallels to the backlash faced by pop icons like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Madonna, noting that while the conversation has evolved, some negative responses remain. Despite this, Carpenter remains undeterred, thanks to the trailblazers before her.
