Sabrina Carpenter's 'Espresso' Wins Song of The Year at MTV VMAs

Sabrina Carpenter achieved a significant milestone at the MTV Video Music Awards, securing the prestigious Song of the Year accolade for her hit track ‘Espresso’. The awards ceremony, held at UBS Arena in New York, was a major moment for Carpenter, who expressed her delight at winning this honour for the first time.

In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Carpenter expressed her excitement and gratitude. "I've literally never won one of these," she remarked, acknowledging the special nature of the award.

She dedicated her thanks to her fans, who she described as the driving force behind her music career.

“You guys are the reason that I get to do what I love, but also the reason that we get to have so much fun and share music with each other,” Carpenter said, adding a touch of humour to her speech.

Carpenter extended her thanks to her managers, family, and even her pets, who she joked were watching from home. She also recognised the contributions of the songwriters behind ‘Espresso’, including Steph Jones, Amy Allen, and Julian Bunetta. "I love making music with you, and I can't wait to share more with the world," she said, showing her appreciation for their collaboration.

Ending her speech on a playful note, Carpenter thanked the lyric "And thank you to that's that me espresso," a nod to a much-discussed line from the song. ‘Espresso’, released as a single from her latest album ‘Short n’ Sweet’, achieved notable success, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and helping the album top the Billboard Hot 200 chart for two weeks.

At the awards show, Carpenter was also nominated for several other categories, including Artist of the Year, Best Pop Song, and Song of the Summer. Last year, she performed a memorable mash-up of her songs ‘Nonsense’ and ‘Feather’ at the VMAs pre show.
