Sam Smith has been the talk of the town since the release of their third and latest album, “Love Goes”. The record nurses a whopping seventeen tracks along with some star-studded collaborations. And Sam recently took one of these numbers to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
The young star conquered Colbert’s stage with a sparkling version of ‘Diamonds‘. Donning a studded violet button-down, Sam’s vocals filled up the entire room. Dreamy and powerful, they were accompanied by a live band along with a couple of backup singers.
Speaking of this album during an interview with Zane Lowe, Smith explained, “I’d say [this was] the first proper time I’ve been actually heartbroken. That feeling of they’re gone, you can’t sleep, the really, really bad feeling.”
Sam followed up ‘Diamonds’ with a live rendition of ‘Kids Again‘. Supported by a pretty acoustic riff, the star’s melancholic vocals soared as he crooned,
Did somebody change your world
And now you don’t look back
‘Cause we’ll never be kids again
No, we’ll never be kids again
Despite the global crisis, Smith confessed that he wasn’t disillusioned by the idea of finding love just yet. “These unprecedented times gave me the room and space to fall in love with these songs all over again. After it all, I still believe love is the answer. And with love in our hearts and kindness in our words and actions, we sing on.”
