At the latest Primetime Emmy Awards, Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig, Bowen Yang, and Seth Meyers took the stage to celebrate NBC's iconic comedy show ‘Saturday Night Live’, which is set to mark its 50th anniversary.
Their appearance came amidst playful jabs, as ‘SNL’ had just lost the Emmy for Scripted Variety Series to ‘Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.’

The quartet humorously addressed the perceived snub of SNL creator Lorne Michaels, who has seen numerous losses at the Emmys. Rudolph, Wiig, and Yang rallied in support of Michaels, with Wiig quipping, “You are not a loser, even though you have lost a lot.” Rudolph echoed the sentiment, declaring, “Each and every one of those 85 times you lost, you were robbed. You hear me! Robbed!”
In a comedic twist, Meyers stepped in to clarify that Michaels has actually won 21 Emmys and that SNL itself has received over 200 awards. This light-hearted correction added to the night’s festive mood and showcased the enduring camaraderie among the show’s alumni.
This reunion of SNL cast members for the Emmys follows previous nostalgic tributes, such as Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s return as Weekend Update co-anchors at the 2023 Emmys.
The ceremony’s focus on SNL's 50-year legacy continues a trend of celebrating classic TV shows, with Jesse Collins Entertainment also honouring other beloved series like ‘Happy Days’ and ‘The West Wing’ at recent awards ceremonies.
