Behind-the-scenes disputes between the movie's filmmakers and studio Lionsgate are causing delays for ‘Saw XI’. Before the popularity of 2023's ‘Saw X’ rekindled interest and prompted preparations for an eleventh installment, the franchise, which started in 2004 and revolves around the infamous Jigsaw killer trapping victims in psychological and lethal situations, had been losing ground.
The movie was originally scheduled for release in September 2024, however it was moved to September, 2025. But for months, progress has been halted, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Longtime series co-writer Patrick Melton revealed that since he and his writing colleague Marcus Dunstan sent in their draft in the spring of 2023, nothing has changed.
Melton clarified that lingering disagreements between Lionsgate and the movie's producers are the reason for the delay rather than creative problems. He saw it as a managerial impasse in which both parties were unable to harmonize their project visions.

Regarding the premise, Melton made a suggestion that it might deal with current and socially important issues, much like Jigsaw did in ‘Saw VI’, which focused on CEOs in the health insurance industry. According to him, Jigsaw will play on the dissatisfaction that many people have with malfunctioning systems in the next movie.
Although ‘Saw XI’ is still officially scheduled for release in the UK in September 2025, Lionsgate has not yet commented on the matter, and the film's future is still up in the air due to ongoing studio disputes.
