Scarlett Johansson Condemns AI-Generated Kanye West Protest Video
An AI-generated film purporting to show Scarlett Johansson and other celebrities denouncing Kanye West has drawn criticism from the actress.
AI-generated images of Johansson and other celebrities wearing T-shirts that read “F*** Kanye” in response to West’s recent scandals were featured in the deepfake film, which went viral on social media. After he tried to sell a T-shirt with a Swastika and posted antisemitic comments, his X account was recently banned.
The video was described as “terrifying” by Johansson, who also voiced serious concerns about the misuse of AI. She underlined that although she is adamantly against hate speech and antisemitism, the uncontrolled dissemination of AI-generated content is even more dangerous. She urged the U.S. government to give legislation governing AI’s usage top priority, warning that technology has the potential to spread false information.

She also talked about her prior encounters with AI manipulation, bringing up a disagreement with OpenAI regarding a voice that she claimed mirrored her own that was utilized in its ChatGPT system. Johansson called on legislators to act quickly to stop AI from being used in ways that could be detrimental to both people and society as a whole.
