Scrapped ‘Looney Tunes’ Film ‘Coyote vs Acme’ to Be Released Next Year

After being purchased from its original studio, ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ is finally making its way to theaters.
The live-action/animated comedy follows Wile E. Coyote from ‘Looney Tunes’ as he sues the Acme Corporation for failing to stop the Road Runner’s defective wares on multiple occasions. The picture, which was produced by James Gunn, features John Cena and Will Forte in addition to the beloved cartoon characters.
Fans and cast members reacted negatively when Warner Bros. Discovery shelved the film in November 2023 for a tax write-off, even though it was finished in 2022. Earlier this year, Will Forte publicly criticized the decision. Warner Bros. Discovery changed its mind after the uproar and started taking offers from other production companies.

Voice actor Eric Bauza previously posted a still from the movie on social media, even though no official material has been made public.
According to Deadline, the rights to ‘Coyote Vs. Acme’ have now been acquired by Ketchup Entertainment, the production company behind ‘The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie’, for an estimated $50 million. The movie will be released in theaters in 2026.
Gareth West, CEO of Ketchup Entertainment, was thrilled with the purchase and described the movie as a nostalgic yet modern interpretation of the ‘Looney Tunes’ universe. He thinks both new viewers and devoted fans will enjoy it.

This is the fifth ‘Looney Tunes’ film to be released in theaters. Following ‘Space Jam’ (1996), ‘Looney Tunes: Back in Action’ (2003), and ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’ (2021), the latter of which drew mixed reviews, the franchise launched.
