Sebastian Stan Becomes Donald Trump in 'The Apprentice' Biopic Trailer

The newly released trailer for ‘The Apprentice’ unveils Sebastian Stan's striking transformation into a young Donald Trump, showcasing his early journey into the world of politics. Under the mentorship of the ruthless attorney Roy Cohn, portrayed by Jeremy Strong, Trump learns the cutthroat rules of life and power in New York’s elite circles. 

The film spans Trump’s early years, long before his eventual rise to become President of the United States. According to the official synopsis, the biopic follows "a young Donald Trump (Stan), eager to make his name as the ambitious second son of a wealthy family in 1970s New York.”

Under Cohn’s guidance, Trump develops the traits that would come to define his public persona. Strong’s Cohn is described as seeing in Trump “the perfect protégé — someone with raw ambition and an unrelenting drive to win at any cost."

Directed by Ali Abbasi and written by Gabriel Sherman, the film brings a bold, unflinching take on Trump’s formative years. Abbasi, known for tackling controversial subjects, recently gained attention for his crime thriller Holy Spider. The director’s decision to helm ‘The Apprentice’ has garnered significant attention due to its provocative subject matter.

Stan, best known for his roles in ‘Pam & Tommy’ and ‘Gossip Girl’, was spotted filming in New York City in character, complete with Trump’s signature suit and hairstyle. His portrayal has been eagerly anticipated by fans and critics alike.

Abbasi faced intense backlash from Trump supporters following the film’s premiere at Cannes. Steven Cheung, Trump’s campaign communications director, criticised the filmmakers, stating they would challenge the "false assertions" presented in the biopic. Despite the controversy, ‘The Apprentice’ is poised to offer a gripping portrayal of Trump's early rise to power.
