Selena Gomez Calls Acting Her “First Love”, Says Music Became an “Out of Control” Hobby

In a recent interview Selena Gomez opened up about her love for acting and her current approach to music. The singer and actress shared that while she is preparing to release a new song for her upcoming film ‘Emilia Pérez’, it's the only music she has planned for now.

"I don’t know if I’m ready, you know?" said Gomez, reflecting on her career in music. Her last single, "Love On," reached the Billboard Hot 100, while her most recent full-length album ‘Rare’ was followed by her Grammy-nominated Spanish-language EP Revelación. "It’s a vulnerable space. Acting has always been my first love. Music is just a hobby that went out of control," she explained.

Despite these comments, Gomez reassured her fans that she isn’t stepping away from music entirely. "Now it is a part of who I am, so I don’t think I’m going anywhere," she stated, while adding, "I’m just not ready yet."

For now, fans can look forward to Gomez's upcoming Spanish-language songs in ‘Emilia Pérez’. These tracks were crafted by French singer and lyricist Camille alongside Clément Ducol. Reflecting on her Spanish-language work, Gomez said, "I can sing Spanish really well," referencing her successful work on ‘Revelación’.

Gomez first appeared on television as a child in ‘Barney & Friends’ before making her film debut in ‘Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over’. Her breakthrough came with the lead role in Disney Channel's ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’.

Following her Disney success, Gomez transitioned into pop music, releasing her first album with Selena Gomez & the Scene. Over the years, she has achieved three No. 1 albums and multiple top-10 singles, cementing her place as a music icon.
