Selena Gomez Says ‘Not a Model, Never Will Be’ Amidst Recent Criticism of Her Weight

Selena Gomez is all about kindness and compassion. However, amidst recent criticism of her weight and changing body, she hopped on TikTok Live to address her fans personally. She spoke at length about how everyone deserves to be loved irrespective of what they look like. This is not the first time Gomez has spoken about her health and fitness. She opened up about her struggles with lupus, due to which she had to undergo a kidney transplant. The medication caused her to hold on to water weight, which she explains about on her Live.
“And that happens very normally,” she said. “And then when I’m off of it I tend to kind of lose weight.”
She told her fans that she is always going to prioritise her health first. “I just want people to know that you’re beautiful and you’re wonderful,” she added. “And yeah we have days where maybe we feel like s–t but I would much rather be healthy and take care of myself and my medications are important and I believe they are what helps me. So, yeah, not a model, never will be. And I think they’re awesome, mind you, I just, I’m definitely not that.”

Recently, Selena Gomez has been notably active on her social media handles, but she also revealed that her app of choice is TikTok.
“I find it to be a little less hostile,” she said. “There are wonderful things about social media—connecting with fans, seeing how happy and excited they are and their stories. But usually that’s filtered through for me now. Everything I do I send to my assistant who posts them. As far as comments, my team will put together a few things that are encouraging.”
