Selena Gomez Teams Up with Oreo for a Horchata-Inspired Cookie Collaboration

Selena Gomez has added another title to her resume—cookie creator—through a new collaboration with Oreo. Known for her work in music, film, and business, Gomez partnered with the iconic cookie brand to develop its first-ever horchata-inspired flavour. This move is part of Oreo’s ongoing strategy to appeal to Gen Z and keep the century-old brand culturally relevant.

The flavour was inspired by Gomez’s fondness for horchata, a sweet, chilled drink often made from ground rice or nuts and flavoured with cinnamon. The limited-edition cookie features a blend of chocolate and cinnamon crème mixed with sweetened condensed milk, topped with cinnamon sugar, and sandwiched between two chocolate-cinnamon wafers. The cookies also showcase six custom embossments, including Gomez’s signature and the word “Selenators,” honouring her fan base—marking the first time Oreo has featured an autograph on its product.

Selena Gomez expressed that being part of the creative process was a meaningful experience, especially given her childhood love for Oreos. The flavour development reportedly took around 18 months, during which she and Oreo tested various options before finalizing the version that best reflected her taste.

The cookies will launch online in the U.S. on June 2, followed by a wider retail release and international availability in countries such as Canada, Brazil, Australia, and New Zealand in the weeks after.

Oreo chose Gomez for the collaboration due to her global reach and strong influence among younger consumers, according to Michelle Deignan, Vice President of Oreo US. With over 420 million Instagram followers and a net worth of $1.3 billion—largely thanks to the success of her Rare Beauty line—Gomez was seen as an ideal partner. Deignan noted that Gomez felt the chocolate and cinnamon combo perfectly represented her.

Following earlier successful partnerships with artists like Lady Gaga and Post Malone, Oreo decided to stick with musicians for these limited-edition flavours, as music remains a major interest for Gen Z. Deignan also emphasized that such high-profile collaborations help drive brand value at a time when consumers are more selective with their spending.
