Sia Has Been Upgraded to the Grandmother Status

Sia recently sat down for a conversation with Zane Lowe, where she revealed that she’s now a grandmother! The star dished out that one of her sons recently welcomed his own children. Though, she secretly doesn’t particularly enjoy being called, ‘Grandma’ or ‘Nana’.

“My youngest son just had two babies. I’m a f–king grandma!” Sia exclaimed. The next plan of action, according to Sia is to get the kids to call her, ‘Lovey’ instead, which sounds like something right out of a Disney movie.

Just a few months back, Sia confirmed that she had adopted two 18-year-olds last year. The star also expressed her frustration with the foster care system and the impact this adoption process has had on her.

“I’m a little bit jaded now after investigating the foster system as much as I have done in the last year, because it’s completely corrupt; it’s failing us,” she told Lowe. She further went on to shed light on the fact that both her boys, have had to go through trauma programs as, “They’ve been in 18 different locations in their 18 years.”

In light of the ongoing #BlackLivesMatter Movement, the star explained that looking away was no longer an option and that now, more than ever, communities need to come together and act.

In a tearful moment during the interview, Sia admitted, “I’m embarrassed that it took me to adopt two Black sons to really understand what they go through on a daily basis. When this reality is happening, and it’s what we should be addressing more than anything else. … We can actually act, and we can actually try and get justice for Breonna Taylor, and Elijah McClain, just that there’s actually, we can have an effect. We don’t have to just feel sad and guilt.”

So, Where Does Sia Stand on the Music Front?

Now, coming to the music front, Sia recently featured on Mackenzie Ziegler’s brand new tune, ‘Exhale,’ but apart from this, it looks like Sia’s preparing to hang up her mic. She confessed that she’s now semi-retired from the music industry. “I understand what my function is. I understand, and I’m grateful that I was able to be helpful to some people along the way, that I’ve been able to be of service, that I’ve been able to use my platform for good,” she stated. “I’m grateful that it has also afforded me the resources to be able to donate a lot of money to different charities and also to adopt two children and send them to very costly trauma treatments that a normal person wouldn’t be able to do. And that’s what I’m grateful for now.”

Interestingly enough, you don’t often hear artists admit that they’ve finally reached where they’ve always aimed to be, but not Sia. “I have reached my professional and my personal goals, and I’m at a very interesting place. …I’ve now reached my personal goals. I don’t really have any single left. I guess I’m in semi-retirement, maybe?” the singer said.

But it’s understandable considering that Sia’s probably going to be a lot more preoccupied with her children and grandchildren now. Or as she calls them, “the light of my life.”
