On the evening of 26th July, Snoop Dogg carried the Olympic torch through Paris in anticipation of the opening ceremony.
The rapper, who is working as a special correspondent for NBC throughout the Games, made his way through Saint-Denis, where the Stade de France Olympic stadium is situated, as the final torchbearer.
French actress Laetitia Casta and French rapper MC Solaar also joined Snoop Dogg in carrying the torch through Saint-Denis. Sporting an all-white tracksuit and gold sneakers, Dogg passed the torch on to be transported to the Olympic cauldron for the opening ceremony.
Earlier this week, Snoop Dogg spoke about the honour of being a torchbearer at the 2024 Olympic Games, expressing his deep respect and surprise at the opportunity. He described it as a prestigious honour he never could have imagined. He also mentioned his commitment to putting his best foot forward, showcasing his athleticism, and maintaining a positive attitude throughout the event.
The rapper first appeared as a correspondent with Kevin Hart during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, gaining viral fame for his reaction to a horse performing a ‘crip-walk’ during the Equestrian event. Snoop remarked on the horse’s unique dance moves and humourously suggested featuring it in a video. He later told Jimmy Fallon that he plans to meet the horse in person later this year, referring to it as a “returning champ” and expressing his admiration.
In other recent news, Snoop Dogg participated in a mock 200m race at the United States’ team trials for the 2024 Summer Olympics, running for fun against notable athletes like four-time Olympic medalist Ato Bolden and 200-meter specialist Wallace Spearmon. Additionally, Snoop has shared that Dr. Dre has always been like a big brother to him.
