Snoop Dogg has worn many hats over the years, but there's one role he cherishes most: grandpa.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE for this week’s cover story, the 52-year-old rapper expressed how much he values fatherhood and being a grandfather. Snoop, who has four children—Corde, 30; Cordell, 27; Julian, 26; and Cori, 25—with his longtime wife Shante Broadus, also dotes on his seven grandchildren.
Snoop shares that he takes on fun personas for his grandkids, saying, "Papa Snoop is who I am, and I love being that. I dress up for their birthday parties as characters like He-Man or Baby Shark. I might complain, but I really enjoy it."
He proudly stated, "I love being a grandpa. It's a great accomplishment." In July, Snoop showcased his dual role of grandpa and Olympic ambassador by sharing a heartwarming photo of himself tying his granddaughter's sneakers at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Snoop's son Cordell Broadus also shared the moment on Instagram, highlighting Snoop’s commitment to family even amidst his busy schedule. The photo, captioned “Grandpa's duties while at the Olympics,” was posted just after Snoop carried the Olympic torch through Saint-Denis.
Earlier this year, Snoop revealed on the Jennifer Hudson Show that his grandkids call him "Papa Snoop," a name that evolved from "Papa Noop," which his grandson Zion initially used because he couldn’t pronounce Snoop. Snoop fondly recalls, "He started calling me Papa Noop, and eventually, it turned into Papa Snoop."
