Someone Has Created a Lego Figure of Ed Sheeran

A sculptor has crafted a Lego version of Ed Sheeran. Ian Last, from Woodbridge, Suffolk, created a 25cm figure of the singer-songwriter, complete with his favourite Ipswich Town kit and tattoos. He used an old product called Lego Original, a wooden figure that buyers could paint themselves.

Ian dedicated a day to hand-painting the figure, sculpting it from a material called Super Sculpt, which was then fired in an oven.

“There was a lot of sanding because it’s a wooden character and there is a little bit of grain in it,” Last said.

“Being a perfectionist, I don’t really want that grain to show through because Lego is by its nature a very sharp coloured plastic. I spent almost a whole day just priming and sanding it… so it was probably a couple days’ worth of work.”

The figure has since been showcased at the W Gallery in Woodbridge, and Last is eager to show it to Sheeran himself.

The singer-songwriter has been a lifelong supporter of Ipswich Town and recently acquired a minority stake in the club, totalling 1.4 percent, according to a statement. Sheeran has also been sponsoring both the Men’s and Women’s teams since 2021.

In other news, Sheeran and Coldplay's Chris Martin recently surprised fans with an acoustic set at the Global Citizen Festival in New York. They began by performing ‘Viva La Vida’ and wrapped up with a piano rendition of Sheeran’s ‘Thinking of You’. Although Chris Martin was announced as a guest speaker for the festival, Sheeran was not initially listed as a performer.

During their set, the duo played four acoustic songs, taking turns performing hits from both Sheeran and Coldplay. They started with Sheeran on lead vocals for a rendition of Coldplay’s ‘Yellow’, then transitioned into a duet of Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’.
