Stevie Wonder made a memorable impact on Kamala Harris’ campaign trail by dedicating his iconic hit ‘Happy Birthday’ to her during a special celebration in Georgia. The event, held at two Black churches in the Atlanta metropolitan area, saw the legendary artist honouring the Vice President in a heartfelt way.
Harris was warmly greeted at Stonecrest’s New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, where attendees began singing an a cappella version of Wonder’s 1981 classic ‘Happy Birthday’. The song, originally written to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, became the perfect tribute for Harris on this occasion.

Following this, the Vice President visited Jonesboro’s Divine Faith Ministries International, where Stevie Wonder took the stage to further celebrate her. Before singing ‘Happy Birthday’, Wonder performed a soulful rendition of Bob Marley’s ‘Redemption’ Song, adding a powerful touch to the event.
Stevie Wonder then led the audience in a spirited rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’, encouraging Harris to join in the joyful atmosphere. “Come on, don’t cry. We’re celebrating,” Wonder said as Harris expressed her gratitude for the special moment.
The Grammy award-winning artist has a history of using his musical talents for significant causes. His performance during the Democratic National Convention, where he sang his hit ‘Higher Ground’, is still remembered for its uplifting spirit.
This celebration, filled with music and warmth, highlighted the strong connection between Wonder’s timeless music and key moments in political history, making Harris’ birthday even more unforgettable.
